In-Kind Donation Letter

An in-kind donation letter is used by non-profit organizations to request donations in kind, or services from individuals and corporations. While you might need to frame up a proposal to seek donations from a foundation, a letter serves the need better when seeking donation from corporations.

The purpose of an in-kind donation letter is threefold: to verify the antecedents of the organization seeking donations, to list out its range of activities, and to request for donation in kind. The letter, thus, should begin by listing all legal details regarding the non-profit organization. This includes registration number, recognition from state/central governments, etc. Next, the letter should list the organization’s range of activities and highlight past achievements.

Finally, the letter should request donations in-kind from the corporation/individual, and how they will help the non-profit meet its goals. The tone and style, therefore, is very courteous and professional. You can see how to write the letter from the example below.
